Images annotated according to their content: a study on the description of data in image format in multiple domains

In research data management, data description is a key task so that all datasets that exist in different projects are properly interpreted and understood. However, in many cases, the process inherent to this task is time-consuming and, therefore, can sometimes be discarded by researchers. If there were the possibility of automatically filling in some descriptors, this task would be facilitated, in terms of usability of the contents, time, and ease of understanding. This dataset is composed of images of research from different domains, annotated according to their content, through the use of descriptive tags. This dataset can be useful in many contexts. It can, for example, be used to study how automatic image analysis can have an impact on research data management and, thus, simulate what would happen if it were possible to combine the human component with the technological one. The annotations took place through the use of a form, where the researchers described the visible content of the images they provided.

Sample: The dataset contains 27 images from 6 researchers from different fields of work. A text file with the description is associated with each image.
