The desire to make the metadata model more interoperable, easier to understand, and easier to use, boosted the development of controlled vocabularies, associated with some of the metadata model’s descriptors. We expect these vocabularies will facilitate the image description process. We selected ten descriptors for the construction of controlled vocabularies: Research domain, Type, Format, Instrument, Material, Use rights, Methodology, Edition Statement, Quality, and Scale.
